Tinea versicolor

Hi, anyone with tv here that killed the fungus (according to scrapping biopsy) but the discoloration won't go away and back to normal? I was told by my doctor that the color won't be back unless I do the phototherapy, which is very expensive. Anyone with a better solution? Its been a year and the color is not back and I'm loosing faith....
Thank you so much.
