In pregnancy, there is hormonal imbalance, and yes, it can be due to this. However, we still have to rule out the possibility of infection especially if you are not confident with the house you visited recently. This can be done on your next prenatal checkup, which should be in the next few weeks. You could put some calamine lotion for the itch and try to keep the affected areas clean and dry. Avoid scratching to prevent secondary infection.
Take care and regards.
Thanks. There are no other symptoms at this time. I haven't touched anyone else with these bumps. Seeing as though I am pregnant and single, sexual contact is out of the question. Do you think that it has something to do with the pregnancy? Hormones or something? I'm 23 weeks pregnant.
Hi,
Scabies is a common skin infection that causes small itchy bumps and blisters due to tiny mites that burrow into the top layer of human skin to lay their eggs. Scabies is contagious, and is usually transmitted by skin-to-skin contact or through sexual contact with someone else who is infected with it. The most common symptom of scabies is severe itching, which may be worse at night or after a hot bath. A scabies infection begins as small, itchy bumps, blisters, or pus-filled bumps that break when you scratch them. The areas of the body most commonly affected by scabies are the hands and feet (especially the webs of skin between the fingers and toes), the inner part of the wrists, and the folds under the arms. It may also affect other areas of the body, particularly the elbows and the areas around the breasts, genitals, navel, and buttocks. Diagnosis is usually through obtaining or scraping a small part of the affected skin and examine the scrapings under a microscope for signs of scabies mites.
Are there other signs or symptoms present? It would be good to see your doctor for proper evaluation and management. Take care and keep us posted.
