Vaginal irritation -question

Hi Doctor,

For a while now I have been experiencing some discharge and irritation on my vulva/anal area.  It is just on the outside and it's just slightly irritated with a clear/thickick discharge from vagina. I dont even feel it all the time just sometimes and it's definitely not horrible...just a little irritating.  I feel like when I feel the irritation on my vulva I also feel my anus itching/irritated as well.  I just went to the gyn and was diagnosed with HPV high-risk and had a colposcopy done and awaiting the results of that.  I asked my gyn while I was there about possible infections and he said that I didnt have any vaginal infection (such as yeast, bv, etc). He did give me this cream which seemed to help for a while but now I feel irritated again.  My question for you is do you think this is related to the HPV infection OR do you think it could be some type of non-infectious vaginitis?  I do wear thongs, do shave my vaginal area with shave gel, and I am on birth control bills (ortho-try cyclen lo).  I do not ****** or use soap down there because I was told it was a bad thing to do.  What would you suggest?  Thanks very much.

This does not sound in any way HPV-related.  Also, this sort of irritation is rarely if ever related to detergents.  Thongs ans shaving may aggravate it.  If your gynecologist doesn't see yeast, it's probably mild dermatitis (non-infectious.)  Trey over-the-counter 1% hydrocortisone cream plus moisturizer.  If that doesn't clear things up in 2 week,s a visit to a skin doctor would make sense.

Take care.

Doctor- sorry one more thing.  I was also wondering if it could be some type of reaction from the detergent that I use.  I'm not sure if this would cause discharge? Thanks.
