Weird rash on my ankle.

So I play volleyball and soccer and about 7 months ago, I broke my ankle. Now I wear an ankle brace during my sports that I play. Now where my ankle brace is, I get this weird bumpy rash. Sometimes it shows up like a whole bunch of pimples in on little collage. And sometimes it's just a big red bump. It is all over my ankle and it itches. I have talked to a dermatologist and the doctor gave me this fluocinonide ointment and at first it really worked and now it does not work hardly at all. I have soaked in the aveeno oatmeal bath stuff and that only relieves the itching. It has been there for about a month now and my homecoming is coming up and it does not seem to go away. I am freaking out. PLEASE PLEASE I NEED HELP.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
It can be due to heat rash, sweat dermatitis or dermatitis kin due to the ankle brace. Avoid using any lotions and creams for the meantime. Use a mild cleanser with moisturizing properties like Cetaphil. Also use cotton clothes and change the clothes twice if there is any increased sweating. Try keeping the skin free of sweat as far as possible. If the symptoms still persist then you can apply mild steroid like dermacort. For the itching antihistaminics like Benadryl or Claritin can be taken.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Sounds like that ankle brace is causing a heat rash.  Try to keep area dry and not do any activities that would cause you to sweat. An anti fungal powder might give you some relief also. If you can give up sports until after the homecoming so you don't need to put on the brace it might give that rash a chance to go away.
