What could an slightly red itchy butt crack be?

The past couple months I've had an itchy butt crack (not usually the anus...just the cack). There doesn't seem to be any raised skin or sores...it's just very itchy ad pink sometimes...but usually at night. I am a gay male and I've had unprotected anal sex. The last time I had any sexual activity, was with my boyfriend (that was over a year now). We did have a scare...he turned out to have syphilis...so I got tested and was told I was negative for any STD (I didn't have any symptoms anyway)but still the doctor still gave me penicillin for the exposure. Shortly after that we ended the relationship. And now over a year later I start getting this itchy butt crack. This itching crack started when I thought I had a hemorrhoid or tear because of one time that I had a very large and hard bowl movement that caused pain and bleeding. Could this all just be fungal or a hemorrhoid? What do you suggest?
