White upper lip area with red border?

I was recently prescribed a tretinoin cream by my dermatologist. Ive been noticing that ive had a very noticeable white upper lip area with a little bit of redness right below my nostrils. It even shows through my makeup. I have no idea why it looks like this and the only thing i can think of that could be causing it is the cream. Could it be sun exposure? I religiously use sunscreen. I read on another site that it could be my diet but i doubt it. I eat low calorie and low carb and drink water. Any idea what this could be?

As far as diet is concerned, low carb and low calorie are good, but you also need to make sure that you are getting the the vitamins and minerals that you need- do you track micro nutrients at all?  Do you take a multi-vitamin?  You may check those areas.  Was the tretinoin given to you for acne?  Have you called the doctor to let them know you are seeing these areas after using the cream?  I would also give your doctor a call and let them know what you are seeing.

I’m going to call my dermatologist today. I was given the Tretinoin for acne, yes. Also my pores get very clogged very easily so she said it’d help with that but it has not. I haven’t tried any multivitamins and don’t track micro nutrients either. I’m not sure how. Do you recommend any multi vitamins? How would those help exactly?
