Wierd rash on hands

Hello, Ive been getting a weird rash lately on my knuckles and top part of my hands. Ive been noticing it at night at home when I get back from work. I would be sitting at my desk on the computer and then all of a sudden the top part of my hands as well as my knuckles become very dry and a stingy red rash develops. It doesnt occur after I eat because it has happened while Im hungry. I do use "Dial Antibacterial hand foaming soap with Moisturizer". Actually now that I think of it, its occurred after use but not right away. I guess I could experiment? What other possibilities could it be? And I think Ive had this before when I was very very young( around 9 or 11) maybe Ill ask my mother if she remembers. ;-) Anyways, any thoughts or advice would be great! Thank you so much!

It sounds likely this is irritant contact dermatitis from the handwash. Switch to a gentler brand. After rinsing and drying thoroughly, apply a hand cream such as Elizabeth Arden's 8 hour cream which soothes irritated skin. If the skin on your hands is sensitive, try to avoid irritants in the future. Use non-latex gloves when doing household chores as latex and detergent are common allergens. What occupation do you do? MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

This may be a case of xerotic irritant contact dermatits. Have a consult with your primary physician for proper evaluation. In the meantime , avoid using the soap. You may use bath oil or a more bland moisturising soap .Dont rub the skin.Just pat it dry. Use lotion rather than creams to moisturize the skin.

The symptoms usually resolve once the offending agent is avoided. If symptoms persist after 3 to 5 days then further evaluation may be needed.

Keep us posted regarding your physician's advice.
