Worried about HPV treatments not working

First off thanks for your time...

My question is I noticed HPV about a year and a half ago, after about a month I was treated, the warts almost completely went away, then they started to come back and got pretty well developed to the point of being raised off the skin. I have been treating them for about 6 months steadly and I can almost get rid of them but they keep coming back, (treatment to date: Cryotherapy every two or 4 weeks & Aldara 3 nights a week). Is it possible I reinfected myself? Does masterbation spread this? Also does stress play a role? Also is this a sign of HIV? I'm extremely worried about this, I have also noticed two smaller warts on the bridge of my nose, is this related?

Thank you~

Warts have an annoying tendency to recur.  This is true whether they're on the genitals or anywhere else, or whether you rub them or leave them alone.  I just would make sure that what's still being treated are actual warts, or just healing tissue from the skin's being repeatedly hammered.  I suggest leaving them alone for a few weeks and then going for a recheck.  But you may indeed have to treat them over and over till they give up.  Which they will.  And having this happen doesn't mean you have HIV or anything else.

Please ask a doctor to tell you whether the nose bimps are actually warts.  Even if they are, they don't repesent spread from down below.  But I bet they aren't.

Take care,

Dr. Rockoff
