another alopecia question

Hey Doc, I'm right at the 2-month mark when my alopecia spot was first detected.  I see no fundamental difference in size, but no actual regrowth.  I'll be honest, it's making me rather anxious as I, at times, fear it will (or is?) spread or other spots will spontaneously occur.  I find myself checking my scalp with a certain amount of neurosis.   The spot itself is about the size of a quarter.  Do they typically stay about this size or do they grow?  Should I consider treatment at this point or just wait for the 3-6 month window?  I really appreciate your help.  My physician was understandably casual in his diagnosis and I know, logically, that what's at stake is only vanity, nonetheless I am concerned.  Thank you again.

I understand your concern, but I suggest you wait another few months.  If new spots were going to appear, they would already have done so.  Also, available treatment (such as cortisone injections) is not all that effective.  Time is on your side.  Spots usually stay about the same size.

Best.

You've done a lot more to alleviate my fears than my own doctor.  Thank you so much Dr. Rockoff.  I hope the days find you well . . .
