I am not sure what I have on my head. I wne tot my doctor and she called it cyst's. But she hasn't tested them to actually find out. So...They are bumps that feel, to me like pimples. But there is one that comes on the back of my head. Its in the same spot as the bump on the left side of my head that everyone has. You know those two bumps that everyone has on the back of there head. So  anyway it gets huge and hurts and is tender, also there is a head on the top of it like a pimple. So my doctor told me to put a warm washcloth on it to see if I could pull out some of the puss. I did and it seemed to work. However it came back just a few weeks later. So there it is. I hope I gave you enough info to help.

It can be a cyst or acne keloidalis nuchae. It occurs when hairs on the back of the head and neck grow into the skin, become inflamed, and cause scar tissue. These ingrown hairs usually occur following a short haircut on the back of the head and nape of the neck.

Treatment of AKN includes suppression of the inflammation with antibiotics and steroid gels or intralesional steroid injections. So apply antibiotic cream like Neosporin or bactroban.If the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics and steroids may be needed. Please consult a dermatologist in that case.
