cancer?

I'm a 16 year old male, and about 2 weeks ago i discovered a lump about 2 inches up from the base of my penis.
It was only a little bump at that time. But in 2 weeks it grew to about the size of a quarter, and i can touch it and push it and it doesnt hurt, there is no discoloration, it looks just like a lump under my skin. And i know a hernia can do that from to much lifting, but im just trying to make sure its not anything deadly, like cancer.
Prostate cancer does run in my family, my great grandmother past away from it. The more i think about about it the more i start to worry, my mom is setting my up with a doctor soon, but im trying to figure out sooner, because she really doesnt remember. It just slips her mind while she is at work to make me a doctor appointment.
But thanks everyone just for reading this!
I hope i get some answers!

Hello,
It could be a small hematoma under the skin or due to swollen lymph node. Prostatic growths or malignancy present with other symptoms like dysuria, hesitancy in urination, etc. If there is no fever, the infection is mostly warded off by the lymph node. This may remain swollen for variable period of time. It is very difficult to diagnose the cause of groin lymph node on net. However there are various possibilities that you can look into. Pubic lymph nodes swell up in various conditions, the commonest being infection of the genitals, so this also needs to be ruled out.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

No, I can almost surely say that it's not cancer. And it's not prostate cancer either since the prostate isn't located there.

What you are probably feeling is a lymph node; perhaps swollen for some reason - maybe an infection in your body, like a cold, etc. Notice also that swollen lymph nodes can stay swollen a pretty long time after an infection.

Here you can see all the lymph nodes in the human body:
