chickenpox or hiv concerns

I had unprotected sex about a year ago. The guy assured me that he had regular check ups and no STI's. About a month later during the hay fever season I felt terrible sick. I had a really bad cough, terrible headache and felt extremely weak. I thought it was hay fever but did not see my doctor about it. A month after dat i noticed something that seemed like an insect bite but it turned out to be a boil. I got a second one a month after. I went to see my doctor and he gave me a urine test and did not find anything, he suggested it was probably due to hormonal changes (I am 18 years of age) because i was also getting horrible acne at that time which has cleared up now. I also had a chlamydia test some time afterwards which also tested for other infections such as gonnoreah and that tested negative aswel. Ever since I had unprotected sex I have been having concerns about HIV although the guy says he does not have any infections. I now have chickenpox for about 5 days. The rashes are very small and my doctor says it looks like mild chickenpox but I am concerned because it is my second timeand have this crazy idea that it could be HIV rash. My brother got it a second time aswel some months ago and my doctor said people get it a second time quite often. Am scared because doesnt this mean I have a weak immune system and possible HIV. I havnt discussed it with my doctor because I am scared of taking an HIV test.
Do my symptoms sound like I have a possible HIV infection, am I scared to take the test.

Hello,
From the symptoms they are not suggestive of HIV infection. However to clear your doubts, you can get it tested by specific tests for HIV like western blot,PCR and ELISA.These tests may show accuracy after 6 weeks to 6 months as HIV antibodies take time to develop in the body.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Make sure you go over your concerns with your doctor, in detail.
Since you had sex with him a year ago, then by now if you did have HIV it would show in a blood test. it normally shows by I believe around 6 months but a test at a year would also show it. When on my 13th bday I accidentally had a finger poke from a needle I was throwing away when I held it by the cap(in my church parkinglot, lovely hu?) and had to get the test at 1mo, 3mo, 6mo, 1yr.

I'd suggest that from now on, do not believe a guy based on what is said and always use a condom at least until it's a committed longterm relationship. :)  To me, they'd have seen other symptoms most likely if it were HIV so you shouldn't be afraid to take the test.

What happens with HIV is you want to catch it as soon as possible to get started on meds which then prolong life, so take the test and be sure to talk to your doctor in detail about all of your concerns if you haven't already.
