cold sore scares?
I had a cold sore for the first time about a month and a half ago everything has healed but i have been left with red blotch and its slightly raised in a few areas. Am I still contagious? Is there anything to help remove the scar? Is it a scar?

The cause of cold sore is the Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (HSV-1). After primary infection, the HSV-1 virus becomes latent, usually in the dorsal root ganglia of the trigeminal nerve and may recur. Cold sores are usually seen on the lips and extend to the skin around the mouth. Other areas on the face, chin, or nose are sometimes involved. The ulcers crust over and the skin returns to normal within about 3 weeks without scarring. If it persists or does not heal, it is best that you have this evaluated further for proper management.
