have a lot of blackheads only in my nose area, but not other part of face, my face was clean, i dont know why oil production only occurs in my nose area, I have been doing daily skin care routine everyday, and apply salicylic acid 2% (from paula's choice) everyday for exfoliation. i also wash face with mild cleanser and apply moisturizer, after apply moisturizer on my nose still becomes more oily. I went to see the dermatologist and he given me the differin cream, differin also make my nose oily and did not stop the oil production, which is also not helping, i very hopeless right now. please help with my oily nose. thanks

Hello,
Oily skin needs special cleansing with plenty of hot water and soap to prevent the pores from being clogged. Avoid harsh products that strip your skin of oil and encourage flakiness. They can cause a reaction known as reactive seborrhoea, where the oil glands work overtime to compensate for the loss of natural oils.

Avoid skincare products that leave your skin feeling taut and dehydrated. You can use cetaphil and make sure that the rest of the times you wash your face with fresh water. Avoid heavy greasy moisturizers and take a diet rich in proteins but restricted in sugar, fluids and salt. Drink plenty of quality water to keep the skin hydrated and flush out toxins.

HI, so now I should I stop using differin cream issued by the dermatologist? The differin cream I applied on my face every single night for two months ago is not helping, the doctor said it will help me to clear up my oily nose and blackheads , seem not helping at all. And every morning I wake up, my nose is always flooded with oil, And whenever i wipe off the oils, within few moments it comes back again, I really don't know what's going on, because the oil production only occurs on my nose area but face is not producing oil and not oily at all ! My face is clean not acne at all and not oily. Am I considering combination skin? How am I going to do with my nose to stop the oil productions? Suggestions please

Hello,
Blackhead is a yellowish or blackish bump or plug on the skin and is a type of acne vulgaris. It is caused by excess oils that have accumulated in the sebaceous gland's duct.

Cleanse the area thoroughly and apply a good mild exfoliating scrub on that. Apply a medicated cream or gel containing resorcinol, salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. This helps is soaking the oil and helps in peeling away the blackheads. If benzoyl peroxide leaves your skin dry, apply an oil-free moisturizer after 10 mins of applying benzoyl peroxide.
