I also felt this last week when I pulled a muscle in my upper hamstring. It went away after a few days. Now I feel a burning sensation on my hip. I really don't know what to think. I'm young and healthy.....anyone have any suggestions of what this my be?

I am experiencing an irritating pain in my skin.  It was only a few days ago that I came up with the sunburn analogy, but that is what it feels like. I am quite surprised there are so many others with the same thing. I'd say I've been experiencing this for about ten to fifteen years. I used to get it in my scalp, then it moved to the right side of my face. I described it as feeling as if I had been "slapped in the face...yesterday". The sting one would feel from a slap was gone, but there was still a tenderness. It usually lasted about five to seven days. Now I have it on the left side of my lower back, but it started on the front of my thigh. It has lasted longer this time than ever before....about three weeks. Something I have noticed is that when I had it on my face, I would have a cold soon after. Now it's on my lower back on the left side, and I was recently diagnosed with bursitis in my left shoulder. I wonder if there is any correlation. There are no visible symptoms at all. I otherwise feel perfectly healthy. I just want it to go away.

My doctor is almost positive that I have a rheumatic condition and along with other tell tall signs I have tested positive for the "rheumatic factor" He then tested me for Lupus. When that came back negative he referred me to a rheumatologist. I wont see that dr. for a few weeks and I have the same kind of sun burn feeling. My skin feels like i've been frying in the sun but I'm pale as alabaster. I get goosebumps and chills when i attempt to cool it with anything and when i remove the cool, I get a horrible overheated feeling with sweating.

Hi,

Could you tell a little more on this condition:

Have you had a sunburn on any part of your body earlier or at the present time? On your back?

Have you had any allergies or reactions to any substances?

Have you tried any medication till now?

Do you have any visible marks at the site?

Is the itching persistent or episodic in nature?

Were you able to locate any possible reasons for this itching to occur in these conditions only?

Till the time a diagnosis is established, you can try OTC anti-allergics, moisturizers and emollients on you back.
