Hives out of Control-HELP!!!!

Hi, after reading in here I see that my symptoms are more common than I once had thought. One other thing that is in common, is that no one really has an answer as to how to make these hives go away.

I have been sick since October of 2007. It started with a nasty cold, which turned into a sinus infection. I went to the doctor, who then placed me on antibiotics, but the cold never really went away. Over the last couple of months, I have begun to be constantly bombarded with these hives. In the morning on my legs and trunk mostly. Then later on in the day at the base of my neck and hands.

I have had skin testing and blood work done, CAT scan on sinuses which showed mild sinusitus. Blood work results showed dust mites and animal dander. It seems to me that dust mites is something that most people are allergic to to some extent, so from my standpoint, the diagnosis seems rather vague. At any rate, I am taking Prednisone, Claritin, Allegra, Tylenol, and now several different cold medicines because the cold is now back again in full force.

The cold is back just as bad as it was back in October, in my chest and head. The cold may be a entirely different set of symptoms than the hives, but I am GOING NUTS HERE!!!!!!

Should I seek a different Doctor? Should I seek different medications? I do not know what to do anymore. Today I woke up and my face was completely covered with them.

I hear that one day these will just go away, but how long until they go away? I mean really, this has been going on since October. I live near the University of Washington and have considered going to see their medical staff instead of continuing to see my physician. thoughts?

PLEASE HELP! I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANY MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kristi

So, I should stop taking the prednisone while I have this cold? What about my hives? I mean, I am literally covered in them. This is so out of control!!

I missed a couple days of work because they have gotten so bad. It just makes me want to cry!!

Prednisone for a cold?   That will make it worse.
I would stop taking all that **** and calm down let your body fix itself. Drink some green tea, a good multi vitamin and maybe a benidyl to help at night.

You can't take anything for a cold! It has to run it's course.

I know my wife had them for months after long term use of antibiotics.
Your right no one can give you an answer. Benidryl seemed to work better for her. But the more you stress over it the longer it will last.
Just know that it will go away. Eating limes can help with allergic reactions. Also pro biotics.  Not much help. But save your money a new doctor won't tell you anything different.
