inflammation of lips

I've been applying Maybelline Baby Lips lip balm for two months and recently the edges of my upper lip started drying out and in 2 days my entire lip was swollen, red and burning and feeling stretchy, but its not chapped but feels extremely dry. It has happened to me twice before (had used Avon lip balm then) and i applied Smyle herbal gel and Vaseline and it worked. This time though it is not working. I've been applying Smyle gel and Himalaya lip balm to cure it. If I use Nivea lip balm nothing happens though.

it feels really nasty without anything on my lips and so I have to keep applying something.

Please help...

hello doctor,

it can't be a vit b deficiency because i take Neurobion (Glaxo) everyday for my hair and nails (i have hypothyroid).

a few days after the allergy i got a rash all over my body and when i did a blood test, i was diagnosed with dengue. the doctor prescribed Fexofenadine Hydrochloride (Allegra) for the rash.....................so i took 10 of them there was no prominent inflammation but today i've seen the top left of my upper lip has gotten a bit swollen and there are minute bumps. i don't have a food allergy. so i don't know what to do about it. when i went to the dermatologist he said it was nothing and will eventually pass. he prescribed vaseline. and i haven't applied anything other than vaseline till now. today when i saw the swollen area i applied surfaz-sn (beclomethasone dipropionate+neomycin sulphate+clotrimazole) on it.

could you please help me out, i have no idea what is happening. the dermatologist i have gone to said it was just my mind playing tricks. how is that possible when there is obvious inflammation; the left side of my lip look very different from the right side

please help

Hello,
Firstly,It can be due to vit B deficiency.Take some vitamin B complex for some days and see if your symptoms improve.
Secondly it can be due to cheilitis. Thirdly,it can be a contact dermatitis to lipsticks.Take some over the counter antihistaminic like benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.

Avoid licking the lips as saliva evaporates quickly resulting in them being drier than before. Drink plenty of water and take multivitamin supplements and do not apply lipstick or other cosmetic products for some days. Use a humidifier to moisturize the air in your home and apply shea butter or Vaseline on your lips. You can also use a homemade ointment mixed from 1 tsp glycerine, 1 tsp lemon juice and 1 tsp castor oil. Spread on lips overnight, refrigerating the leftovers for future use. Eat foods high in calcium, magnesium and flaxseed oil. If a week of compresses and emollients don't do the trick, you can add over-the-counter 1 percent hydrocortisone ointment to your regimen.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
