insanely itchy scalp-HELP!

could ANYONE advise me on this condition? It drives me NUTS from October til June! Itchy to the point of insanity, I am not kidding! There are bumps, too, that hurt. When I wash my hair it feels better for about 3 hours. After 24 hours without a shower I am just scratching away. I can't find a dermatologist in my area that takes my insurance, or even new patients. Any bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Since you’ve got the complaint of itchy scalp, you may be suffering from Tinea Capitis or Ringworm (fungal infection) of the scalp. Ringworm is a fungal skin infection that occurs on the face, body or scalp. The symptoms of Ringworm or Tinea Capitis include a dry itchy scalp, scaling, crusting, inflamed nodules, hair loss and tender enlarged lymph nodes on the neck.

Please get the diagnosis confirmed from a dermatologist. Also get head lice ruled out.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
