itching
my forearms and hands and sometines my legs and tummy are itchy and have been for about 3 weeks, it becomes worse at nighttime, there is no major rash, just a few red spots which worsen when i scratch, my boyfriend had started scratching too. i am worried it may be bed bugs as i have seen pictures of scabies and other skin conditions and it is nowhere near as severe as that, the palm of my right hand and the base of my thumb are particuarly itchy

From your symptoms scabies is an important possibility. It is characterized by intense itching, usually at night and by small insect-type bites lesions on the skin. Diagnosis of scabies is made by scraping the skin and viewing the material under a microscope to see the characteristic mite or eggs.
