itchy all over for 3 months no rash

2.5 months ago this all started, I started getting itchy all over my body with no apparent rash or other symptoms. It started the beginning of may so i thought it might be an allergy of some sort since it kinda comes and goes. Some nights worse in the evenings and late at night and other times its just random. It can feel like a sharp pain all of a sudden then an itch in that area, most often its on my back, ankles, lower legs, feet, arms, and head sometimes. Sometimes its the sharp pain then itchy in that location i scratch it and it fades and pops up on another spot on my body, other times its no pain but it just feels like how it feels when you get a piece of hair on your face or something if you know that sensation. When I'm in my apartment its the worst thats why i was thinking it might be an allergy or some mold in the ac vents or something like that. I ordered a test kit to test for mold, yeast, and such in the AC vents the test can take 3 days to show but its been 2 days and its not showing any signs of mold bacteria or yeast. Though it is at its worst in my house, i have noticed it at work and friends houses as well,  I'm thinking maybe when im at work my mind is occupied and i dont notice it so much as when im home relaxing. I"ve also noticed some other possibly related medical things I'm just gonna list below all the stuff I'm experiencing it might or might not be related. Im just trying to help you get all the facts and you can connect if their related to the itching.  been taking some over the counter clariton, and some of an old prescription i have for allegra. This is really driving me crazy and i dont have insurance so im not sure what to do about it

I too experience similar symptoms and do not know what to do.  Have received two shots of cortizone, take xizyl every night (could not sleep for 3 days straight due to itchy, tingling sensation all over my body), and claratin in the morning.  Dermatologist has no idea what it is.  He now suggests I leave my house for 2 weeks and eat nothing but rice until we figure out what it is.  I am going crazy!

Please help with suggestions.

I have been struggling with a skin problem for over a year now. I wasted hundreds of dollars with dermatologists. Five different doctors at four different practices. I finally found a doctor that will listen. But the majority make a diagnoses before you walk in the door. It's all about money, they don't want to waste any time listening or testing. They gave me all kinds of prescriptions. Some of which made the problem worse. My skin itches all over sometimes too. No rash no bumps or anything. Stress might be the problem as it all started after six months of overwhelming stress anxiety and deep depression. But the skin problem adds to the anxiety. Especially when you go to a dermatologist and they tell you you have a horrible life destroying disease like eczema. That their is no cure or even a realistic treatment. Then you do research and find out just how horrific the disease is.
They tell you this without any testing or without showing any symptoms. Eczema must take up a lot of room on the diagnostic dart board.
I would just wait and see, if you are stressed out, try to get some help with that. Don't waste any money on Dermatologists, they only guess.

Itch like yours without a rash is often related to stress, not allergies.  I suggest you try the following over-the-counter products: Benadryl 25-50 milligrams at bedtime, pramoxine (ask the druggist) as often as needed on all itchy areas.  If these don't help in 2-3 week,s you'll need to see a doctor, insurance coverage or not.

Take care.
