mole removal

I have a mole on my cheek almost as big as the end of a pencil, it is very slightly raised, and it is not cancerous. The doctor said he could remove it using the scraping method. However, I was worried if this would work as i dont think it is raised enough, if i rub my finger on my cheek i can barely feel it is there, and i think it might grow back or leave a bad scar. I wondered if anyone had had any similar experiences, to help me decide if i should go ahead with it? Thanks.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
There are many procedures of mole removal like by shave or deep elliptical excision, excision with cauterization (a tool is used to burn away the mole) and laser removal. Your dermatologist may choose excision with or without stitches, depending on the depth of the mole and the type of cosmetic outcome desired.

Laser removal has less chances of leaving scars but it is also not without side effects. Discuss the details of these procedures with your dermatologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Many years ago I had dermabrasion to get rid of acne scars. My skin was literally sand-papered. The first treatment was quite shallow to determine if I scarred easily. I did not scar. The question for you is how easily you scar.
