post hemorrhoid skin tag surgery

After child birth I have a developed a skin tag at the opening of rectum from pushing and straining to push out my baby. Yes, it is called a skin tag - bigger ones are called hemorrhoids. So, essentially, this is a "post hemorrhoid" condition. The appearing of my skin tag is small, nontheless unsightly and somewhat bothersome when cleaning after a bowel movement. And I would like to have it surgically removed as I do not know of anything else that can be done to remove it.

Please describe in detail the type of surgery that would be involved to have it removed. How is pain level? I heard it was excruciating. How long is the recovery period?

If "hotnewfilm" is reading this, please let me know what kind of surgery you did to have your skin tag removed as I have read your question in this forum under the category "Skin Tag or Scar Tissue". Also, did you ever get your "scar tissue" removed as well? Did you find out what it was?

Hi I had 2 surgeries to remove hemorroid, i was constantly constipated and after my first baby i had the rubber band done 3 times IT DOES NOT WORK WAIST OF TIME AND ENERGY..then I had my first surgery and I think the Doc did a bad job (half fast) I went home and imedialy saw that it was 2 balls hanging outside my anus when they were not there before.. so the next visit the doc said "WOW we will have to do it again it still there " (hellow he knew he did a mistake). 4 months later i went to a second surgeon that did the laser surgery for hemorroids, he did do the surgery , but left me with a deformed but and horrific one... just so my hemorroids would come back, wich i found out 6 years later that i had rectocele what caused my hemorrids to be cronic.. so I just had the Recotcele surgery 4 weeks ago and now I ask my other doctor to remove the skin tags... THE DOC TOLD ME IT WILL BE EXTREM PAIN AND THAT I MAY HAVE THE ANAL CANAL NO GET TIDER AND BE DIFICULT TO EVACUATE  - HE SAID IT IS ONE OF MOST COMMUN SIDE EFFECTS TO SKIN TAG REMOVAL- NARROW OF THE ANUS ...  DID ANYONE HAD THAT? I CAN NOT HAVE ANY DIFFICULT TO PASS STOOLS OR MY RECOTCELE WILL REOCUR, SO I STILL WILL REMOVE THIS TAGS, AS I AM AN EXTREMELLY SEXUAL PERSON AND I M DIVORCED AND CAN NOT GO OUT AND HAVE SEX BECAUSE IT IS SO EMBARASSING TO HAVE THIS SKIN TAGS HANGING IN THERE ... I THINK ANY MAN WILL GET SCARE , UNLESS HE S YOUR HUSBAND FOR YEARS  LOL, WELL DOES ANYONE KNOW IF AFTER SKIN TAG REMOVAL IT NARROWS THE ANUS AND MAKE DIFFICULT TO PASS STOLLS??? THE PAIN I CAN DEAL WITH AFTER 2 HEMORROIDS SURGERY AND A RECTOCELE AND HYSTERECTOMY.. I THINK I CAN DEAL WITH IT ;) MY SURGERY WILL BE ON NEXT WEEK..
THANK YOU

I had my internal hemorrhoid removed a little over a month ago.  My doctor told me that I should be able to return to work after a week, but I was still feeling some piercing pain, which I later found out was due to irritation from a loose suture.  When I went to see my doctor for a follow-up appointment, she cut the extra suture, the sharp pain went away instantly.  Most of the pain subsided after 10 days and the swelling was reduced after 2 weeks.  By 3rd week, the swelling has gone from an almond M&M size to half of a tic-tac size.  It's been 6 weeks and the size remains the same, so I assume that's just the skin tag.  Hope this helps.

So, I finally did it even though I was scared of all the horror stories here.

The shot hurt pretty bad, but it wasn't more than you could handle. Then I felt nothing when he cut it of with some kind of scissors I think - or knifes... Not sure, but it was done in like 2 minutes. I was sent home with som bandage and told I could bleed a little in the beginning. Took a couple of regular aspirins when I got home and I was a little sore for a couple of days, but it didn't really hurt. I was told not to use toilet paper and to shower after I go for number 2. Also to wear skirts at home and get as much air as possible so that it heals faster. They said nothing about sitzbaths that everyone is talking about here. They also advised me not to take any creams and not to use soap "just do business as normal". I also asked about laxatives and such to not strain the cut, but they said I shouldn't do that.

I looked at it later that night and it looked pretty good. It was a pretty big open cut, but the tag was gone! I was told it would take 12 days for it to heal, and during that time it actually didn't look very good. The side of the open cut got a little swollen and appeared to look as a tag itself. On the twelveth day exactly it did look good though! Bowel movements did hurt and bleed the first week, but not so bad. Only if I was a little constipated.

I'm now three weeks after, and it appears to have healed pretty good. No tag, but if you look closely, one can still see that there has been a cut, but it's hidden if you don't look very closely. Althoug my tag was caused by a fissure, and that hasn't healed compleatly (since I insisted on removing the tag before tha fissure had healed) so I still hurt a little when I go to the toilet. Also a small new tag has started to appear (althoug not that noticable if I don't look closely) so I need to take care of that with creams and such to heal the fissures and stop getting constipated.

Anyway, I just wanted to say to any of you who hesitate - DO IT. If it belongs to an active hemmorid, then this might be a painful experience - but if it's a fissure tag or something that is just there for some other reason it is really not that bad. It looks already almost completely normal and I'm super happy I did it.

There's almost nothing but horror stories here.  I wonder if it's that people who've had bad surgeries, or are worried about their slow recovery from their surgeries, are the ones who are likely to seek help online, find this forum, and tell their stories, while people whose surgeries have gone fine really don't feel the need to come to a forum like this and say everything went fine.

That's terrible.

I'm thinking of having a skintag that's attached to a fissure removed for cosmetic reasons. It's awful, ugly and discusting, and affecting my sexlife really bad..

I'm worried though. Is there ANYONE who's actually happy with their surgery, cosmeticly and otherwise?

I had internal and external Hemorrhoids.  I ignored them most of the time but it was starting to rule my life.  I finally had a bleeding episode that lasted for two hours.  I was trapped at my office.  Once home I decided to check in at emergency room.  Glad I did.  ER doctor wouldn't let me go home.  Said my Hemorrhoids were the worst hes ever seen.  I had my surgery on the 4th of July.  Surgeon removed ALL three internal hemorroids by surgery.  Full anethesia.  He also worked on my external hemorrhoids.  I was discharged a day later.  I had a bowel movement on Thursday afternoon.  I held it in until Tuesday morning. About 3 + days after surgery.  The first BM was the worst experience of my entire life.  I was constipated from the drugs.  I recovered VERY quickly.

I followed Doctors orders.  Took one week off of work.  This is required as BM start to come very often and you have no control over them - you'll have like a 30 second warning or you'll **** your pants.  You need to be near a bathroom!  I have a desk job so one week was good.

Things I did to recover quickly:
1)  Took hot showers after every bowel movement.
2)   Took 4 - 5 Sitz baths a day for 1 week than less for another week.
3)   Avoid dairy products, avoid spicy food, avoid red meat.  Eat light and healthy.  Lots of yogurt, juices, water.
4)   Two tablespoons of Metamucil (fiber) day and night
5)   I had a hemorroid cream I applied after every bowel movement to help healing
6)   I took VENAPRO twice a day to help internal healing. (please note my first bowel movement I had two drops of blood.  I have not had a single drop of blood since than).
7)   Got walking as soon as I could - keep the blood going.
8)   Got off the drugs as soon as I could.
9)   Used panty liners the first week to catch discharge, etc.
10)  No more toilet tissue - using the flushable wet wipe type of wipes now - including some I brought to work and hide in the bathroom - much easier to use and much less painful.

I went back to normal bowel movements after two weeks.  After three weeks I no longer have any paint during BM and feel "normal".  Bar far the worst experience of my life but I'm so glad I did it.  My life is restored after 20 years of Hem problems.  I waited way too long!

Hope this helps someone.
