rash in groin area

Hi. I first noticed a reddish rash in my groin area ( the crease of inner thighs to the sides of my scrotom years back. Since then, I have had similar reddish rashes infrequently on either my left inner thigh or right, or both. it happens once in a while. But I usually notice it to occur if I havent showered regularly or masterbated and didnt shower aftewards. I assumed that it was some kind of bacteria or uncleanliness. I also noticed the rash usually doesnt last more then a week. however, recently, thsi tiem I got the rash and the last time, it did develope what look almost like pimples, only theyre at teh base of hairs. If I pull on the hair, the whitish part ( sort of like a whitehead) will look liek the root of the hair is pulling out or something like that. They kinda look like a chickens bumps like if u plucked a chicken. I have had 3 std checkups throughout this timeline and never been positive on anything. From my understanding however, they only test for certain STDs.
Also I had had sex with a girl who had genital warts at some point in her life and was treated but she said the vrius part of it would never go away. SHe didnt have outbreaks anymore after it was treated, but the sex with her was years after I saw the rash the first time.

Please help
thanks

Hi,

This could be folliculitis, dermatitis, or allergic reaction. In most individuals there are outbreaks of folliculitis from time to time.

Folliculitis is infection and inflammation of the hair follicles. The condition may be superficial (i.e., on the surface of the skin) or deep within the follicles. The most common cause of folliculitis is infection by the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus.

Folliculitis symptoms can appear independent of infection. Exposure of the skin to certain chemicals, especially oils and tars, can trigger an outbreak. People with depressed immune systems, diabetes, or obesity have a greater risk of contracting folliculitis than the general population.

Patients with chronic unresponsive folliculitis may require investigation into the source of the infection. S. aureus bacteria can live in the patient's nostrils, periodically triggering a folliculitis outbreak.

Individuals who are predisposed to folliculitis should be extremely careful about personal hygiene. Application of antiseptic washes may help prevent recurrences. A topical antibiotic cream, mupirocin (Bactroban®), has been effective at reducing bacterial colonization in the nostrils. It is applied twice daily for a week and is repeated every 6 months.

If there any of the mentioned medical causes then treating those will reduce the occurence of the condition.

Some stubborn cases of folliculitis have been responsive to laser-assisted hair removal. This process uses a laser to destroy the follicle. This reduces the scarring that results from folliculitis.

Let us know if you need any other information and consult a skin specialist if the lesion is persistent.

I have the same condition with the hair follicules.  When I pull on them, the root of the hair is a solid white mass.  When ive pulled the hairs out, the white matter is also on the end of the plucked hair.  These hairs are on the crease of both my inner thighs and scrotum.  I do not get the rash-ness.  But, i do get a red knotty painful bump on both my thighs. They never are in clusters, only singluar.  Some just have a solid red purple-ish color, and the others are just red.  After a while they go away, but a few leave the skin purplish.  Also, some of them have white heads (where the hairs are coming out of the bump).

Ive seen a doctor about the big red bumps.  And he prescribed Cephaxlan or something and it helped for awhile, but its back again?

Is it Folliculitis??

Hi,

Wear lose clothes, maintain good personal hygiene, apply calamine lotion at the sites of the lesions.

If your symptoms persist it would be best to consult a skin specialist because nothing can be said with surety without a proper clinical examination.

Let us know about what your doctor advises and post us about any other doubts that you might have.

Well I dont get any other symptoms. I dotn get tired nausea , well nothing I can think of. Ive looked up pictures of genital warts, and it doesnt look like them. in fact, since I posted this, its already gone again. theres justa  tanish colorered area on my skin where it was. It isnt acne or pimples I know because its more of a rash looking type thing and not just red bumps.
Any new suggestions or refined suggestions?
