My son is 10 and he woke up this morning with a quarter size red rash, that looks like a really bad burn , with little bubbles of fluid around the edges of the circle on his top side of his arm on his wrist. He said at first it was a little itchy. But now, he says it doesn't hurt, doesn't itch, and there is tighten of the skin around the rash. The Circle rash looks like he's been burn with a quarter that had been laid out in the sun for a very long time. The rash is tight, red , and has hard blisters around the edge that looks like it won't pop. I thought he may have been bitten by some kind of bug or spider while he was sleeping. The rash is only in one spot and he has not ever had these kind of rashes before and I'm very concerned. I thought I might wait it out for a few days before we see a doctor. I cleaned the rash with some hydrogen peroxide and gave him the ice pack to put on his arm. He said it doesn't sting... Please help.. Concerned Parent
Thank you so much. i will be sure to take my daughter back into the doctors asap. i will keep you posted.
Hello,
From the symptoms the possibility of molluscum needs to be ruled out. Molluscum contagiosum is a common, benign, self limiting viral infection of the skin. It generally affects children and presents as multiple, small, dome-shaped papules, often with a central depression or plug. Treatment includes physical destruction or manual extrusion of the lesions, cryotherapy, and curettage.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
