HI,
If this is the case, this could be the reason. Try to stop whatever soap or detergent you are currently using and reintroduce them one at a time. This will eliminate if such irritation is due to these. Gentle washing as well as cleaning inside the foreskin may also help.Irritation usually resolves after the irritant is removed or avoided.
Take care and keep us posted.
Thank you for your knowledge and advice. As to your questions, i am not circumcised, and i have looked up any known STD and do not have any of the symptoms to those. The only symptom i have is the minor red rash on the head. There is no inflammation and no stinging sensation when i pee. It is a tiny bit sensitive to touch when washing but thats it. I dont think it is Balantitis because there is no swelling or soreness.
Aside from seeing my doctor, would you recommend just gentle washing and to stop having sex until it improves? is there any usual time frame for such irritation?
Hi,
This could indeed be be due to irritation, infection or other skin condition such as dermatitis. The skin of the glans is very sensitive and can be easily damaged, which may lead to infection. Irritation of the skin can be caused by the soap you are using, over-washing or scrubbing, chemicals in some condoms, spermicides, and lubricants,
or some washing powders or fabric conditioners that are not completely rinsed from the underwear. Try to use mild soap and detergents.
Are there other signs or symptoms present? Balanitis is a condition wherein there is inflammation of the glans, caused by a bacterial infection. It is common, and it can occur at any age. It happens a little more often in men who have not been circumcised. It can usually be prevented with good hygiene and is not normally serious. This presents with red skin, swelling , irritation, and soreness of the glans. There may also be pain when passing urine.
These symptoms can also be a sign of another condition, such as a sexually transmitted infection or thrush. It's important to see your doctor for further evaluation and management.
Take care and regards.
