raw rash

I am a 70 yr old woman. I have a raw rash in between my inner thighs, pelvic area, and inner right leg , one on the leg is in a circular about two ins. in diameter, both sides of the lips of the vigiana area, and both sides by my rectum area. This has been going on for about 3 or 4 months. It seem to almost go away and comes right back again. Went to the doctor, he gave me antibotics and anti-fungal cream since 10-04-10. It does not seem to be doing anything, and it itches so bad I start it to bleeding, what can it be and what should I do. Thank you for any info that you could give me.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
From the symptoms intertrigo needs to be ruled out. Keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical zinc oxide cream like Sudocrem, Desitin are very helpful(apply with a paper towel and not directly with hands).Application of mild steroid cream like dermacort also helps. For the itching take some over the counter antihistaminic like benadryl or Claritin. In case the symptoms persist then antifungals may be needed. Please consult a dermatologist in that case.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

I think it a wise idea you proceed to another doctor or ask for a referral to see a gynacologist. A problem like yours should not be taken lightly.
