try not using toothpaste it worked for me, in two days the bumps were gone and healing. just brush teeth w/ baking soda if you like the mint flavor like I do just brush w/ mouthwash after. I thought mine was a bacterial infection or something triggered by sweating because I live in the south and work in temps. around 110+ in summer months. not the case it is something in the toothpaste.

Hi Lynda ur complaint sounds very similar to mine. Mine occured after I got eyelash extensions ehich have sense been removed but i am 7 wks now with the hives. They keep flaring up. Not sure if it was the lash extensions that caused it but certainly a conincidence. They have never completely left. How did you get rid of yours. Mine seem to flare up as soon as i come off antihistamines. But I am also getting swelling in my eyes and cheeks. Had another flare up last week. Any guidance or help appreciated

just to follow up, my issue involves one or two good-sized hives under one or both eyes, not small bumps like those shown in the photos depicting perioral dermatitis - a completely different issue.

I have had this problem for a few years and finally figured out what the problem is.  It is caused by a reaction to four "natural" scents are increasingly being used in lotions, hair care products, perfumes, soaps, etc.  My under eye hives are usually accompanied by swollen upper eyelids, sometimes all the way up to the brow, that are also initially red and itchy.  It takes a few days for the swelling to go down and then the skin flakes off, assuming that I am not re-exposed to the products. My experience started with a new perfume which I only wore about once a week, resulting in the problem coming and going.  I finally figured out through monitoring different ingredients, that the following four natural scents cause my problem:
linalool
limonene
citral
citronellol
These four ingredients are being used more and more in "natural" products and others because they are cheap.  Manufacturers are required to list them separately from "parfum" on labels because they are KNOWN to cause reactions in 3-5% of the population.  This will continue unless people complain to the manufacturers.  I am trying to raise awareness of the issue.  I have a website but this site will not let me list it because they think it is a solicitation, but I make no money on the website, nor do I advertise, it is just to make people aware of the issue.  Nothing much seems to help other than avoiding the scents.  If I am careful to do that then the problem goes away.  Apparently the skin around the eye is so thin that it is more likely to react to airborn products as well as through direct contact.

Having this problem aswell - what looks like hives/bites under my eyes.. This is the fifth week, have been on antibiotics, steroids, antihistamines and it keeps flaring up. Not sure what caused it. Went to health store so I am detoxing now with spirulina, nettle tea and putting coconut oil on the rash under my eyes. Spirulina to cleanse the blood , nettle tea to help with allergy and coconut oil , apparently has anti-fungal properties.  Ive also bought an non-SLS toothpaste, a natural one. This is the second day of the detox and lumps are reduced in size slightly. Will post back in a few days /week with another update.

Ok, I found the answer to red pimple under eye!  Went through a thousand blogs! No one knew what this was...no one got better for any length ...one person stopped using toothpaste ! One in a thousand! It worked..took a few days to heal completely for my son. There is a toxin in it that causes this rash...pimples...swelling red...under eye! No kore toothpaste! No it's not the floride...it's another poison, not listed...it's even in tom's....you can look it up on line sodium laurel sulfate...it's in everything....that bubbles...but it makes animals go blind...it's used as insecticide but is in toothpaste and baby shampoo...they lie and say it's natural but it's as natural as another insecticide...starts from coconut...they change the molecules, turns it to poison...anyway...no toothpaste , no rash....

wow.. who knew!
I"ll try this before seing a doctor:

recommended how to self fix

•Stop all face creams, lotions, cosmetics, and sunscreens being used.
•Stop any dental products with fluoride and anti-tartar ingredients until the rash has resolved, and then try a different dental product.
•Wash with warm water alone until the rash improves, and then use a soap substitute to clean your face.

Hey everyone.  I had this same problem for years, got prescribed steroid cream and once I ran out the red bumps would come out even more so.  Then my doctor put me on antibiotics and they came back.  What I thought was a hopeless situation turned out for the better-after washing your face at night, use Pure Vitamin E OIL on your face.  CVS brand or any brand works for that matter, but it has to be the Vitamin E OIL.  I have not had an outbreak since and I hope this helps you all like it helps me.

My doctor said it was Perioral Dermatitis too...I googled it and it's chronic-which means it doesn't go away.

I thank you all for your help in resolving my problem, also: red bumps around my eyes. I tried several of the suggestions above but none were successful. My doctor suggested I see an opthomologist as it might effect my vision but I had not done that yet.

In the end, what has almost gotten rid of my bumps, after 3 weeks is, doing the Healing Code, from the book by Alex Loyd & Ben Johnson. It came out in March, 2010 and is in its 6th printing by Dec. 2010. There are 370(!) reviews of the book on Amazon and most tell of what it did for them as it has for me. The red bumps were just part of my problems so I am grateful for this wonderful new tool. The link to the book is here and I recommend it highly! http://www.amazon.com/Healing-Code-Alex-Loyd/dp/1935529633/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1293496044&sr=1-1

could be related.  I had a heck of a time with red bumps around my eyes.  Finally found the solution after 3 months.  My story is detailed on the thread above.

The Red Bumps Under The Eye is a Fungal issue. I recommend the anti fungal by PUREMEDY. You also will need to wash your pillow case every night and try not to sleep on your side. your will have to apply the gel 3x per day for up to 3 months. this worked for me. Les.

I just got random red bumps around my left eye. I use to wear the foundation I've always put on and now this!!! Is it contagious?? How often does it come back?? How long will it take before it goes away?? It itches but I'm able not to itch except when I wake up I forget all about it.

I had the same thing.  Red bumps and swelling around my eyes.  The first dermatologist I went to thought it was allergies.  She prescribed Alegra and a topical steroid.  FYI any time you are given a topical steroid you should only use it for a very short period.  I used it for way too long now my problem is 1000 times worse.  I just got back from a differnt dermatologist who knows what he is doing and he diagnosed me with "perioral dermatitis."  It is a common bacterial problem, which is usually treated with antibiotics.  This sounds like the same problem alot of you guys are having.  I start my antibiotics today so Ill post back when I have some results.  Hope this helps guys. http://www.aocd.org/skin/dermatologic_diseases/perioral_dermatiti.htmlT
his is usually treated with antibiotics.  I start my antibiotics today so Ill post back in

I have the same issue: tiny red bumps around both eyes - sometimes many and sometimes a few, sometimes itchy and sometimes not, sometimes sore.  I've had it since July.  They also sometimes appear in the creases around my mouth and around my nose.  I have no history of allergies, and am generally really healthy.  Help!

My boyfriend has the same issue, and I was trying to find out what it is. I guess no one feels like answering, though.
