red spot on buttocks - repost with picture

please give me any advice, I plan on getting this checked soon but in the meantime would like some input.  I'm worried that it's herpes, even though there's no blister, because I am sexually active but always safe.  I also know it could be one of a hundred other causes.  the spot appeared 4 days ago, lightly itched on day 1 but not anymore.  it isn't raised much, but I can feel it when I put a finger on it.  thanks for any help or insight you can give.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
One of the causes of this red spot on the buttocks is due to irritated hair follicle caused by the friction rub between the skin and the clothes while sitting. Keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed. Please consult a dermatologist in that case.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
