red spots on bottom (arches) of feet

I have red spots on the bottom of my feet, in the arch area. No blanching when pressed on and no pain or no itch. They are fadng now, but have been there for maybe 10 day at the most.  I looked up petechiae on the internet and while I saw some pictures, the spots on my feet didn't look as bad as the ones I saw in the pictures online.  I found the spots on both feet after being at the gym.  I thoght maybe I pushed too hard on the excercise bike or moved my feet the wrong way...I have high arches.  I also had a raised rash in blotches on my trunk mostly that went away that night which I blamed either my laundry detergent or sweat for.I tend to have sensitive skin and the combo of sweat and the laundry detergent may have caused the skin rash. (Sweating and the detergent problem effects my 2 year old daughter as well.)I took benadryl which didn't help me at all, but as I said the rash vanished that night. Then I caught my children's cold and that is when I questioned what it all means.  The cold is backing down, although my typical cold will linger for a couple of weeks.

I do not take any oral medications...I use topical retin-a and hydrquinone for pigmentation on my face (dark circles, and retin-a for acne spots).  I have been taking the same multi-vitamins for 6 months.  And no, I didn't shower at the gym or walk barefoot there.  The red spots don't hurt like a bruise would...which is why I wonder what it could be because it is on both feet at the arch between the ball of my foot and the heel.  The spots are ranged in sizes from pinpoint to no more than 5 mm...although now they are fading out in color.  Any suggestions?  I have been in good health my entire life with no complications.  No diseases.  I am 36 years old and female. I have seen in other posts that spots that fade tend to be insignificant...as long as they don't spread or get worse.  This is the case with me.

Systemic illnesses like leukemia or lupus, would they normally have petechiae on the feet or would it be spread out all over the body, like mostly on the trunk?  The things I read about petechiae make it sound very serious.

Yes, they do sound like petechiae (flat red spots.) As for trauma, people almost never remember it, unless it's very dramatic.  All it takes is one misstep that goes by without notice....

sorry to be such a pain posting too many questions and comments, but I went to ask.com and typed in petechiae and clicked on pictures instead of web and the other choices for the search and it came up with a lot of pictures of it.  I can honestly say 1)mine were never that dark or vibrant or screaming loud as all the pictures revealed that I have found on ask.com and 2)mine weren't that many...certainly I have some clusters, but oddly to say it looks very mild compared to what I have seen online.  Of course mine keep on fading, which I am glad for, but still they never looked as bad as what I have seen.

My question is:  is that a good sign????

Thank you very much for your advice.

Thank you, Dr. Rockoff, for your help.  I have questions about your response.  Is it possible to have trauma happen and not know about it?  I didn't feel anything happen to me while I was at the gym.  Could the blood vessels just leak like that because I pushed to hard on the excercise bike or maybe lifted weights and oved the wrong way?  Also, what I mentioned about the spots, do they seem to describe petechiae?

I would guess that these came from trauma in the gym.  Systemic issues would cause such spots to appear all over the body.  I advise you to watch them for a couple of weeks.  If they're still there, or if they spread in the interim, let a doctor take a look.

Best.
