Thankyou for your response to my skin problem i have recently recieved word from the hospital regarding my biopsy results and to say the least it has left me shocked, i am told i have cancer, and not as you would expect skin cancer but cancer of the immune system something like leukemia apparently it was even likened to HIV which was scary to hear all this, i was told over the phone and now apparently i have to have a ct scan and go see a hematologist i dont know what to think now, my next appointment is next friday 3rd september at the dermatology department they havent given a name to what i have but my daughter did some research online and come up with non hodgkin's lymphoma which seems to be close to what they say i have i am very worried about the future and dont know what to expect next, but i will keep you posted
best regards Chris Great Yarmouth
From the symptoms the possibility of pompholyx needs to be ruled out. The exact cause is not known and excessive sweating can be one of the reasons. But some triggers like allergic reaction to soaps, detergents, foods, latex, nickel etc may trigger the symptoms. Apply some calamine lotion on the affected area and keep the area well moisturized. Use only thin applications of moisturizer ointments as excessive amounts of ointment may restrict breathing of the skin and aggravate the condition.
Topical steroids can be applied but they are available under prescription. Moreover to prevent infection, topical antibiotics may be needed. I suggest you to consult a dermatologist and get it evaluated.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
