Hi

Scabies is not an STD . "Scabies is a transmissible ectoparasite skin infection characterized by superficial burrows, intense pruritus (itching) and secondary infection. The word scabies comes from the Latin word for "scratch" (scabere)."  This means that scabies is caused by mites that burrow into the skin. The mites then cause an allergic reaction which leads to itching and redness.

Topical medications like Lindane ,permethrin and  malathion may be the medications of choice. You have to ascertain first that this indeed is a scabetic infection. There is really no definite way of knowing if inanimate objects are infested with scabetic mites. Just wash linens, cloths ,toys etc that have been exposed to someone with suspected scabies.

Hi

This may be a case of scabies. Have this assessed by your dermatologist. A microscopic evaluation of the skin lesions may be needed to ascertain the diagnosis. Scabetic skin conditions may prefer the areas between fingers , the wrists and the groin areas. Stop sleeping on the sofa bed. Have this washed and disinfected as soon as possible. Also, scabies is contagious. Immediate medications are needed to avoid its spread .It may spread through direct skin to skin contact so avoid touching the areas. Also, wash your laundry separately and avoid sharing clothes, beddings and towels.

Have you had this assessed by a doctor already?
