tattoo allergy

i got a tattoo in Feb then another one in March. The magenta (purple) color in my tattoos started to raise and itch, but that is the only color that is effected. THe rest of my tattoos are flat and nothing wrong with them. i am assumeing this is just an allergy. But i just read where this guy now has TB because of a specific gray ink the artists got in Arizona. So i just don't know what to think. Can anyone shed some light on this.

i read it on the ABC news website under the heading Trail of Ink: Tracking a rare tattoo related infection. they took a skin sample and found worm like bacterium related to TB. But thinking about it i don't have the rash like his. just raised areas where the purple is and it sometimes itches. it has been going on in both of them since i have had them. That would be Feb and March 2012.

TB is a respiratory infection that can be caught if you inhale contaminated saliva or if an infected person coughs or sneezes so I don't see how someone could get it from tattoo ink...unless it entered their lungs in some way. Where did you read this article?
Honestly, it sounds to me like you could be allergic to the ink. My tattoo would rise a little from time to time during the first 6 months after I'd gotten it but I did have it touched up a couple of months after it was done. It stopped itching after it had healed. Colours that contain red can cause allergic reactions. Sometimes hot weather can make tattoos rise and itch too. How long have you had this problem?
