under eye oil gland

I don't remember what  dermatologist called this but I have an "oil gland" under one of my eyes that looks awful.  Keeps getting wider and I want to say is orange-yellow in color, and is very soft (cant feel it)  Can anyone tell me what this is and can I get rid of it befor it takes over my face.
Thanks
Carol

No, it is not a fatty tissue, lump, or stye. I have seen it along time ago when I was a kid and my Moms friends had it, and I thought it may be a Jewish trait. It is orange in color and the dermatologist I had said they will not do anything for it, not that they cant.  I just wanted to know what exactly what it is. Right now I do not have the money to go in for another consultation, but it looks like eventually I will have to. It is just ugly and growing.

Hello,
From the symptoms it can be a lipoma or a benign fatty tumor. Treatment includes surgical excision or liposuction. I suggest you to consult a dermatologist and get it evaluated.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

This is located under my eye, actually above my cheek bone.

Hello,
I am not sure whether it is on lower eyelid or below the eye. If it is on lower eyelid then it can be a stye or a chalazion and if it below the eye then it can be a cyst or a lipoma. Except stye, all need to be scrapped off or surgically excised. To confirm the diagnosis, I suggest you to get an evaluation done from a dermatologist.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Did he call it a Hordeolum? Better known as a Stye. A stye is an eyelash follicle or eyelid oil gland that becomes clogged with oil, debris, or bacteria.  Severe ones may have a yellow spot in the center. The basic treatment is warm compresses to the stye for 10 minutes x 4/day, also antibiotic ointment. Let the stye drain on its own, do not squeeze it or you could spread the infection.  Also avoid any eye makeup and contact lenses until this has cleared up. Many people get these and they are fairly common. It does not spread to other parts of the eye unless another follicle is clogged.
