what is this.

It starts out as a rash like three bumps and then it starts to grow outward into a circle which inside the circle it turns white. My doctor thought it was  a fungus i was treated for it. It didn't work. My mom lost her job so i lost medical. I have tried creams and everything. The only thing that seems to be helping it is tanning. I do not know what to do or how serious this is. Alli know is it is notgetting better.

Hi,

Fungal infections are transmitted through direct skin to skin contact and they may be readily spread to other parts of the body. So wash your hands frequently and avoid touching these affected areas. Wash your clothes after use and keep these areas covered. Keep the area clean and dry always. Also, avoid borrowing any towels, hairbrush and clothes. Continue using the antifungal cream prescribed to you. Just use one cream at a time. Do not use several creams as this may only dry up the skin and cause further irritation. Wash the area with a mild cleanser like Cetaphil. Pat dry. Then apply the antifungal. Give it at least two weeks and see if after two weeks the area responds.

Can this fungus attatck any other part of the body other then the skin? I have had this for over three months now using the steriod cream, anti fungal creams, etc. and some of them go away but then more appear. I can not go back to the doctor because i do not have insurance and can not afford all of those medical bills.

Hi.

Reddish circular bumps that grows outwards with a central clearing may suggest a tinea or fungal infection. A corticosteroid cream with an antifungal preparation may be able to help alleviate the redness. Antifungal creams may not work readily and you may need to apply them for at least a week to see results. Also, if there is a dermatitis involved, then resolution of the said skin condition may be further delayed.

Avoid applying any other creams except those prescribed by your physician. Refrain from unnecessarily touching the area as this may only aggravate or further irritate the skin.
