For women diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes?

I failed my 1hr glucose screening test but passed my 3hr one... For those who failed both and was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes how did it affect you and your pregnancy? Is it difficult dealing with? Does it bother you alot? I'm just curious?

My doctor has me test when I first wake up and then 2 hours after breakfast 2 hours after lunch and 2 hours after dinner. It's not that bad some people complain because they feel starved but there are things you can eat that have no carbs in them. In my personal opinion when women feel starved is because they want to eat things that are high in carbs so they could only have a little or they won't eat certain things where they can have more. It really is all about perspective. I'd chose a nice chicken and salad over let's say pasta and then on top of it soda is loaded with carbs so the tiny bottles of it would be more then an entire snack

Babies do tend to weigh more. But some babies come out big anyway. At my last ultrasound they said my son was 6 lbs and they guessed he would be 7 lbs when he is born. Now ultrasounds can be off by a lb in either direction

Gestational diabetes doesn't bother me, it's quite easy to deal with however you get more scans.. That's a bonus it's just to keep an eye on your babies size.

It does not bother me. It is just being mindful of what I'm eating and honestly I'm thankful I was found to have gestational diabetes because I now can't/won't use the excuse "it's for the baby" when I just wanted something extra. For meals I keep my carbs at 45 per meal 3 meals a day and 15 carbs per snack 2-3 snacks a day. Plus anything that does not have carbs ex eggs, chicken ect I can eat to my hearts content also by knowing I have gestational diabetes I drink a lot of water so I'm never worried about not drinking enough because I'm drinking all day. Side note I'm 39 weeks and 2 days :)

Well that makes me feel more alleviated about it... Im always having these intense cravings for candy and I've gotten to the point to where I refuse to eat candy lol. I think that is what made me fail my first test...I was eating candy daily and large amounts of it.

Oh ok... So it's not as bad as I imagined. I was just super afraid of having to prick my finger so many times a day. I'm 28 weeks and I know I'll be due for another test soon I just don't know when. I've been eating better though just to avoid failing again.

I forgot to add I have to test my sugar 4 times a day which is not bad I don't even feel it most of the time. Also depending on how far along you are you could have to take it again.
