CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING AND TYPE1 DIABETES

DOES ANYONE HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH PRE-RUN HYPERGLYCEMIA (HIGH BLOOD SUGER) DUE TO ADRENALIN STRESS????

MY DAUGHTER IS 15Y/O AND RUNS 3K.

BEFORE EVERY RUN SHE SPIKES HIGH BLOOD SUGARS, WHICH MAKES IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FINNISH THE RUN SINCE SHE SPIKES EVEN MORE DURING THE LAST MILE.

THANKS FOR THE INPUT

Maybe you would need to experiment with additional insulin to cover the adrenalin high (race day only).

I also read about use of a beta blocker to help stop the adrenaline effect, but I am not so keen on that as it may also affect her race performance.
