Episodes of Low blood sugar

I am a 42 year old male. 5'10" 235 pounds. I lost my job several months ago and have yet to find another one. Anyway i have gotten pretty lazy and spend the majority of the day and night laying on the couch watching tv.

I have had several bouts of low blood sugar recently and my doctor says i am not diabetic just to eat more protein and less carbs which i have been doing but i still get dizzy, sweaty and shaky several times a week even though i eat three meals and a snack or two. I cut out most sweets. My wife has a blood sugar meter and i have confirmed it is low when i feel this way.

Enough rambling, My question is can being extremely lazy and sedentary cause hypoglycemia?

P.S. I do drink two or three Dr. Peppers a day. One in the morning, One with lunch and one with supper.
