Just curious on lab results

I had to have a glucose tolerance test last month, I got my results from the diagnostic lab that did the work.

I find it hard to believe that my results were what they were without me getting any symptoms.

Fasting 8am - 80 mg/dL
Drank liquid
1 hr mark - 153 mg/dL
2 hr mark - 74  mg/dL
3 hr mark - 18 mg/dL  (Verified by repeat analysis)
4 hr mark - 64 mg/dL

I just find it hard to believe it would get as low as 18 without any symptoms; just curious.

I thought the same thing. The lab results did not flag that as a problem.

I have no idea what made her do the GTT test.  I have looked over my lab results and a few things are flagged, but I don't think anything related to sugar.

Anything I need to be looking at?

An A1c test result below 6% is normal, non-diabetic.

My A1c test was 5.6% , which is why she had me do the GTT test to begin with.

153 mg/dl after 1 hour is not high at all. In fact all your scores are somewhat questionable. Why not ask for an A1c test which is the true test to see if you are diabetic or not?

I would definitely question that result. You would definitely have symptoms at 18....severe symptoms. However that 153 is also high so it is right your doctor is doing another test for all concerns.

Thanks for your input.

I will be having another one done as I don't believe I am hypoglycemic. I don't get ANY symptoms and if I do I don't know I am having them.

I did finally get copies of the lab work from the company that did it. On 3hr mark it does state "verified twice for anaylisis". My primary PCP was shocked to say the least.

Again,  Thanks..

yes, that's very strange, a lot of people would have passed out. Sometimes I feel sick when below 120 and sometimes I don't feel anything until it's down to 50. it depends on how fast or slow is dropping
