Side effects of high dosage of diabetes medicine

A person with Hba1C around 9 was given an increased dosage of medicines.  This resulted in swollen and painful legs affecting movement.  It lead to depression also.  The dosage has been decreased and the patient is on the road to recovery in a slow rate.  The person is also with negative cholesterol readings.  Does the over dosage of diabetes med affect nerves and lead to depression.  Suggestions for recovery and further care please.

The term "increased dosage of medications" is a completely meaningless statement. What were the medications and the doses?

The cholesterol levels are meaningless.

As Super_sally888 stated high glucose levels damage nerves.

The high hba1c is not good news, and this person's blood sugars do need to be controlled.   His average blood sugar is around 300, when a normal average blood sugar is 100 or below.

High blood sugar causes damage to nerves, with damage known to occur with blood sugars higher than about 140.

This person should be on insulin appropriately dosed (Basal-bolus dosing - adjusted to food and exercise levels).
