Sore Skin Symptom?

Certain parts of my body, mainly hands neck side of waist and inner thighs are sore and feel as though the skin is bruised when there is and has been no sign of damage. Some times in he shower it feels as though the skin on my hands tightens up and feels like my veins are going to pop out. Ive been told by a Dr that i do have the chance at some point in life of getting diabeties.. just wondering if this could be a beginging symptom or maybe just dehydration or some other problem. My inner thighs hurt even when i walk. Help Please!!

I'm another volunteer, non-medical person.

I recommend you talk to your doc about a referral to a dermatologist... a skin specialist.  It may be something simple like aging skin, and if not, the specialist is in the best position to give you a clear diagnosis & treatment plan.

Nothing you've described sounds like it has a diabetes connection.  The list of symptoms already posted are the most common ones.

GOod luck & I hope you check back so we can all learn from your experience.

Hi deathlilli,

I am a volunteer, so please keep in mind that I am not a medical professional.  My advice is based on my knowledge and experience in caring for my son, now 10 who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 3.

Below are symptoms of type 1.  When you say that your doc says you have a chance at developing diabetes, what comes to mind is:  Have you had any testing done for type 1 diabetes or is your doc referring to type 2?

People who think they might have diabetes must visit a physician for diagnosis. They might have SOME or NONE of the following symptoms:

Frequent urination
Excessive thirst
Unexplained weight loss
Extreme hunger
Sudden vision changes
Tingling or numbness in hands or feet
Feeling very tired much of the time
Very dry skin
Sores that are slow to heal
More infections than usual.
Nausea, vomiting, or stomach pains may accompany some of these symptoms in the abrupt onset of insulin-dependent diabetes, now called type 1 diabetes.

Talk to your doctor about the symptoms you are experiencing if you have not done so already.  (I am guessing you may have already done so considering you mentioned that there is not any damage - possibly get a 2nd opinion in regards to your symptoms)

Take care
