Sudden Twiching Experience in my left hand finger

Hello, I have been experience sudden twitching of second finger on my left hand since 24th March 2007. I work for long hours on the computer. Could this be related? My mom has diabetes...could this be the cause? Can you please help out as it is worrying me to no-end. Thank You.

I agree with LS's comments. You may have something due to repetitive motion injury. Twitching of a finger or other body parts is not a typical symptom of diabetes. You probably should have a good checkup with your doctor, though, in case something else is damaging nerves. You want to correct the problem before permanent damage is done, for sure. My bet is that the computer work is the problem. You might try changing the position of the keyboard or mouse first.

Hello A. Rebello,
We are volunteers here and not medical professionals, so it's best that you give a call to your doctor to discuss symptoms.  The usual symptoms of diabetes include extreme thirt, hunger, frequent urination, sometimes blurry vision.
Here's a reliable website with info on both Type 1 & Type 2 diabetes:

From my personal experience working a lot on computers, if my set up is not ergonomically correct, it can cause wrist or finger problems.  You might ask you doctor to evaluate you for repetitive motion issues, such as carpal tunnel.  Here is a reliable website with information: http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/carpal_tunnel/detail_carpal_tunnel.htm

Bottom line, tho'?  Do talk with your doctor about this and whenever you have concerns about how you're feeling.  I hope you get relief and answers soon.
