Weight loss for type 1 diabetics

I am 45 yrs old. I was diagnosed at age 35 yrs old.  I had my third child at the age of 38 and my fourth child at 41. My starting weight at 38 was 190 average. After my last son I have averaged 265 I am 5' 9/12 ". I am not able to loose the weight.
and I am thinking about gastro bypass since all of the medic clinic weight loss programs promote High protein diets going into ketosis for the first week or two to jump start your metabolism.

I am not able to participate in that.

I was wondering if there was a place like the Biggest Looser that would cater to type 1 diabetics. I think at this time in my life a need a boot camp of sorts that would help me with excersing under controled atmosphere and eating properly helping me to make better choices. and cking my sugar levels and adj with the exercise and eating changes.

I really need help ... i am over weight and can't do much these days and always tired.
I have two young  boys that i want to be around for and want to be active with them.
I don't have the discipline at this time to do it on my own but I know I must do something NOW!

if you know of anything please let me know!

This weight loss method is safe for diabetics. You can do this at home and be with your children. Start doing this gradually, and your energy level will increase each day and you will be able to do more. I will guide you along with other ideas as you progress. When you have started the pranayam, come back to report your progress and I will comment.
The Yog Pranayam (breathing exercises) will  help you relax and also help with the weight reduction, only if you are over-weight.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after 1 minute.
One week after you have built up your timing to maximum you can start watching the weight go down.Drink plenty of warm water.
Bhastrika - Take a long deep breath into the lungs(chest not tummy) via the nose and then completely breathe out through the nose. Duration upto 5 minutes.

Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and hold your head steady. Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.
Age over 15 years -do this for 20 to 30  minutes three times a day.
Age under 15 years -do this for 5 to 10  minutes twice a day.

Anulom Vilom –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Age over 15 years -Repeat this cycle for 20 to 30  minutes twice a day.
Age under 15 years -Repeat this cycle for 5 to 10  minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

Bhramri Pranayam -Close eyes. Close ears with thumb, index finger on forehead, and rest three fingers on base of nose touching eyes. Breathe in through nose. And now breathe out through nose while humming like a bee.
Duration : 5 to 12  times

Once you have achieved your target, continue the pranayam once a day.
Be patient, as the benefits will show over a period of months.Only by doing you will benefit
and feel good because you are helping your body. Those who say I have tried everything....
will be amazed at the result of doing pranayam.
You may also do some arm, leg and waist exercises to keep the body flexible.

Good for you for wanting to change your life! It would be great if there were such a place. If there is it probably is not specific to Type 1 because there are too few of us. It would be either a general Diabetes facility (with more Type 2's than 1's) or a weight loss facility that had a nurse or diabetic educator on staff that could monitor you and adjust the regimen to your requirements. The latter is the most likely. I unfortunately don't know of such a place. I would start your search by asking your doctor or endo. A diabetic educator  or nutritionist might be even more likely to know. Then I might call the ADA. If you are unable to find a suitable residential facility (or if your insurance doesn't cover it), I would suggest trying it outpatient working with a team including your doctor, endo and a nutritionist who would advise you and meet with you regularly.
Good luck! Let us know what you find out so we can pass the info on to others.
Also there are other websites with more traffic from thousands of diabetics, one of whom would certainly be able to give you more input. Please send me a message if you want those urls.
