Concerns about High BS since starting Victoza

I have been on Victoza for 2 weeks.  I begin the new amt. this p.m. 1.8.  We have decrmy Lantus to 10eased units in the even. and 1/2 Amaryl in the a.m. and p.m.  I also take Januvia 100mg, and 2000 mg Metformin a day.  My A1c has been 6.6 for a few years now, but have moved and have a new Dr. who wanted me to try the Victoza.  My BS are running 154 (No lower) to as high as 272.  OCCASIONALLY I might have a reading as high as 272 (My B'day celebration had to many sweets) :(.  but not this high On a regular basis.  This Medication has surely decreased my appetite and I have lost a few lbs.  But I am wondering if it is going to give me the control I need.  I sent my 1st weeks numbers over to the Dr. and she said to continue what I'm doing, and I am, but I'm really getting scared.  I watch my carbs have been walking and BS still staying high.... I'm checking my sugars 4 times a day.  Not always sure what to do when BS is 222 and your getting ready to sit down to eat?? I didn't that much, and then I checked before going to bed and BS was 272.  VERY FRUSTRATED AND DISCOURAGED!!! I see the Dr. on the 2nd of Aug.

Victosa  will help you eat less and loose weight but it is not a substatute for insulin.   (your numbers show that)

You say you watch your carb consumption...  watch it what, go in your mouth?

I eat under 100gr of carbs a day and take insulin.

Thank You for your comments.  Amaryl and Lantus is what the Dr. has taken away, to try this Victoza!!!!  Not eating alot of carbs, but still having these numbers.  So has been hard with numbers that high at a meal time and when I'm hungry.  Devreased appetite has been good and down a few lbs., but afarid Victoza will not work for me??  Since my A1c has been 6.6 on the past meds, I guess why change a good thing. Was my thought, but was willing to give it a try.  I have also been walking everyday and the numbers just don't decrease.  Discouraging for me :>(

Sounds like your insulin needs to be signicnatly increased to bring your sugars down.  You should ask your doctor to advise on this.

When your sugars are high you should avoid eating carbs, and you should also try to walk / drink as much water as possible.

Sounds like you need to add a fast acting insulin that you can take before meals, in addition to the lantus, which is a slow acting /basal insulin.
