Could this be diabetes?

Hello,

Yesterday, I ate 2 sugar cookies and shortly after felt extremely sleepy then as if I were going to pass out. I then heated up a stuffed chicken lean pocket and the feeling went away.

Could this be diabetes? Type II runs on my Mom's side of the family.

Thanks,
Melissa

Thank you both for your responses!

I have frequent urination but I think it is due to the fact that my uterus is enlarged. I am having some problems there, including a mass on my left ovary that is being investigated.

I do drink, all the time. I feel like I have to have a Mountain Dew in my hand all day long. I recently have been trying to replace some of the pop with 40 oz. of water a day, which is far more than what I was drinking (0).  I am not losing weight or notice a change in my appetite. I am going to the doctor just to have it all checked out. My Aunt has Type II and my grandma had it as well. Both control(led) theirs with meds (not injections).

Thanks again.

Fatigue and/or drowsiness is a classic symptom of Hyperglycemia (t2 diabetes). Others are Dry mouth, Thirst, Frequent Urination, Blurry vision, Weight loss, and Increased appetite. You need to see a doctor and get tested for diabetes: an OGTT (oral glucose tolerance test), a fasting glucose test, or an A1c test. If diabetes runs in the family your chance of getting it is higher than most.

No , your symptoms don't seem like the classical diabetes symptoms of extreme thirst, frequent urination.
Yes, with high blood sugar one does feel sleepy but that is quickly followed by the symptoms I describe above, at least for me. I have been diabetic for nearly 30 years now.
