Hi, I'm not in US so I don't celebrate Thanksgiving.

However, for family or special events which involve a lot of foods, I try to choose low carb foods.  These can include nuts, cheese, cold cuts (rather than cookies, cakes, and sweets).  Home made dips (avocado, cream cheese based etc) and vegetable sticks or even cucumber slices, instead of crackers.

Soda water has no calories and makes a good mixer.

I also focus on  getting plenty of veges.... and follow any big feast with a nice long walk.

Please enjoy Thanksgiving foods in moderation.  Do not over eat and make yourself sick.  Please monitor family and friends intake if you know he/she suffer with some type of illness that can jeopardize their health if overload occurs.

This was a very good article and I appreciate the tips. I agree that you want to enjoy the holiday traditions that your family has, but to celebrate everything in moderation. I tend to not eat many sweets, so the holidays are difficult because every time I turn around someone is bringing you goodies. I don’t know if it makes a difference, but for every sweet treat I eat I then eat a piece of kale or something green but this is not all look what the international council for truth in medicine say :
