Diabetes (pre type ll) and Blood pressure.

Hi all.  This is probably going to sound corny.....Sorry for maybe sounding ignorant....can't think straight... anyhow here I go:
I ate some cantaloupe yesterday and it was great!  Since then my blood pressure has been running around 150/105 with a 99 pulse since, along with heartburn, waving headaches and lightheadedness.  Didn't think much of it yesterday; nevertheless the BP numbers and symptoms are not going away.
I did not check my numbers last night.  My before brkfst level was 107 and my levels at two hours after eating lunch now is 170.  (They usually are in the 110-130 range).  I know that is not overly high or whatever; but, can sugar combined with BP issues give me these symptoms?  Just curious.  Thank you in advance for your reply.  :-)

Thank you Zoelula.

I take pills for BP, chol., hypothyroidism and edema issues.  I usually watch what I eat.  Yesterday I had a sweet tooth and bought a cantaloupe.  Normally I do not like sweets.  Maybe I just worked out too hard yesterday.  I check my sugar once a week or when I'm feeling funky along with BP.  My sugar hasn't ran low for a while; but, normally I keep it in the 110-130 range.  Now it is at 135 at 2 hrs and 40 minutes so it's going back just fine.  Just wish my BP would do the same so I could feel better.  As I said earlier....probably just worked out too hard yesterday.  Thanks for your time sweets.  :-)

I would talk to your doctor about the blood pressure issue; most likely it is unrelated to your pre-diabetes. High blood sugar can produce various unpleasant feelings, though usually it is not felt until over 200. Most of us find symptoms of low blood sugar a lot stronger, so you might test when you experience those symptoms to see if you are low. 170 is too high 2 hours after lunch. You want to stay under 140 so you might need to reduce your intake of carbs. If you aren't able to keep from spiking like that with reduced carbs, exercise and weight loss if needed, you might want to talk to your doctor about some meds. But do talk to him about your blood pressure concerns.
