Diabetes???

I just took my blood glucose level and it's 121 after traveling and snacking most of the day. I don't think any of the snacks had a sugar content, i.e. Pork Skins, Cashews, and for lunch I had a Bologna/cheese sandwich with a little mayo. Nothing but water to drink. I was and am supposed to take Prednisone every day for the rest of my life. I stopped after a few months when I developed Diabetes. I think this is a case where the cure is worse than the condition. I am not overweight and will be 64 in January. I was taking the Prednisone for Myasthenia Gravis. What can I do to reverse this condition?

This really upsets me to no end. I think I should have been told of the hazards of Prednisone before it was prescribed for me. Now I have this to deal with for the rest of my life. I don't mean to sound like I'm whining but probably I am. Last night I took my blood sugar reading before I went to bed and it was 137. I took it again when I awoke after 6 hours of sleep and it was 150.??? I had some Cantaloupe and that was all for the night.

There's nothing you can do to reverse prednisone induced diabetes.

I hope your doctor is aware that you stopped taking the Prednisone.  You do realize that without it, the Myasthenia Gravis may get worse, right?

Its not only the sugar content of food that raises blood sugar.

If you are constantly eating and snacking during the day, a random blood glucose reading could be on the higher side.

You would need to check your sugar fasting, and 1 or 2 hours after eating meals to really keep track of your blood sugar.

Are you on insulin?  oral meds?
