First what is 31/2 stones in weight? I am not familure with this. Weight loss is a indicator that diabetes is getting worse. And thrist, and frequent potty trips are a sign. So is fatigue. have u taken your blood sugar your self. U should buy a glucose meter, they are cheap at walmart, walgreens, and the strips u can ask your dr to write a prescription and its much cheaper. I have a one touch mini and ultra and I pay 16.86 for 100 strips. Without the precripsion its 100 bucks. So do your own homework and write it fdown along with the food u eat and how u feel on days like the thirst day, and keep a log of weight loss and if there is no real reason then tell the Doctor.
