If you really want to become a diabetic you should become obese, avoid exercise and have ancestors who were diabetic. It would also help to become an alcoholic. Obviously, no one would desire to be diabetic. So avoid those things I've mentioned that lead to diabetes.
It is mostly genetic-based. I am a T2 and so is my mom, I had a cousin who was a T1, my sister and my daughter are hypoglycemic.
I was diagnosed in Aug of 2016, at that time my sugar level was 782. No one in my immediate family has diabetes, do have a first cousin that does. Before then I would skid meals ( breakfast and or lunch) and eat like a horse at dinner. I would not really pay attention to what or how much of anything I ate, whatever looked good or sounded good I ate including
All sweets. I would think that poor eating habits did it for me. I am 5'8 and 158 lbs and pretty fit for 58 years old.

Genetic factors play a huge roll, my father has it and my mom mom had it. I eat a heathy diet and my A1c was still high. Just placed on meds this week.
