Hi,

a1c of 6.3 means an average blood sugar of around 140.  This is too high.  Ideally hab1c should be < 5.0.

What to do:

1. Low carb diet (if your body can't handle carbs, then you need to reduce them sticking to mainly non-starchy veges as carb source.  Lots of good online info for dietary management - ketogenic / low carb/ modified atkins etc).
2. Daily exercise (including aerobic / weights)
3. Lose weight if overweight.

If all of the above are not enough, medication such as metformin (which is an insulin sensitizer) could be considered.

Get a blood sugar meter and test the impact of what you eat on your blood sugar.  USe this information to modify your diet and learn to maintain nromal blood sugars (targe4t < 95 fasting, post eating < 120).

Your health is in your hands.  It is up to you.

Sally and Toni are right.  In addition to their good advice, make sure you visit the dentist regularly and keep your teeth and gums in good health.

I agree with Sally. Get a meter & check your sugar. Change your diet based on your numbers. Ditch the sugar & detox from sugar it is like a drug. When you detox from sugar you reduce the taste for it but don't return to your bad habits. Get your numbers down, your BMI down (reduce your waist size), lose weight & let dome form of exercise be your norm. If it turns to a diabetic # you will have issues like SF low healing wounds & bruises that take a long time to heal. That's where I am & I am working on getting my numbers down
